Nike PhantomVNM ‘Future DNA’ T90 Edition

Today we are continuing our Nike ‘Future DNA’ journey with the Nike PhantomVNM ‘Future DNA’ T90 edition, and if you think that you are dreaming, the answer is no, you are not dreaming. Nike transformed their PhantomVNM to look like the iconic 2002 Nike Air Zoom Total 90 II, and that’s the third chapter in the ‘Future DNA’ series, where Nike transform their boots as classic and iconic designs from the past.

The iconic Nike Air Zoom Total 90 II build their status as being worn by the likes of football icons such as Paul Scholes, Francesco Totti, Luis Figo and Roberto Carlos in the 2002 World Cup held in Japan and Korea, and later worn by the young Wayne Rooney. The other thing that also contributed to their iconic status was the recognisable design which was the black/white colourway combination.

And as we mentioned earlier, these boots come as the third chapter of the ‘Future DNA’ series, following the steps of the Nike PhantomVSN II ‘Hypervenom’ and the Nike Mercurial Vapor XII, the PhantomVNM now pays tribute to the absolute Air Zoom Total 90 classic.

When T90 II was made, Nike created a boot which will give power and accuracy with ultimate comfort over 90 minutes on the pitch. Although T90 II and PhantomVNM share almost the same characteristics, the trademark of T90 II was that unique band that ran through the forefoot and made them so famous.

Inspired by the unique look of Nike Air Zoom Total 90 II, the ‘Future DNA’ PhantomVNM adopts the same iconic white and black design which made them so famous around the world and kept their iconic status until now.

Another feature that PhantomVNM adopts from Nike Air Zoom Total 90 II is the off-centre, asymmetrical lacing system with the trademark stripe which leads from the tongue, through the laces, and down to the toe box.

Going back to the past, we can see that the Hypervenom replaced T90 and PhantomVNM took over the Hypervenom series, we probably witnessing something of a full circle that perhaps will lead to a new chapter after PhantomVNM in future.

Like the rest of the Nike ‘Future DNA’ pack, the PhantomVNM T90 will be released as a special edition, and therefore there will be restricted numbers which will lead to fast sell-out. So hurry up and take your chance to have a closer look at this combination of past and future, before it’s sold out.

Stay tuned for our next ‘Future DNA’ chapter when next in the list will be the legendary Tiempo.
