Solskjaer admitted that Maguire would not be fit for the Europa League final and announced how many additions he wants.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said the team needs to be strengthened with several new additions over the coming summer in order to hope to close the gap with champions Manchester City.

Under the Norwegian leadership, the Red Devils finished third in the last campaign, which secured second place and even topped the table for some time after the new year.

“I hope to strengthen with two or three new additions because we definitely need it if we want to aim at the top of the table. We are too far from this goal to think that it will happen on its own. We are not where we strive to be, but we are ambitious to reach the top, for which we need more improvement.

We had a difficult start to the season due to lack of preparation and lost three of our first seven games. This definitely put the team under pressure, but I think we did well, “said Solskjaer.

He then made a statement that few fans of the team wanted to hear. He admits that captain Harry Maguire will probably not be able to recover and be on the line for the Europa League final against Villarreal next Wednesday, 26 May at 22:00 in Gdansk.

“Harry walks, but he’s far from running. We will give him the necessary time, but I do not think we will see him in Gdansk. There is a steady improvement, but the recovery still takes time, “explained the Norwegian.
